November 2014 Artist: Lloyd Hazel

In what’s becoming a Fall tradition, Hoboken artist Lloyd Hazel returns to our walls for the month of November.

Lloyd Hazel is a Hoboken-based artist, designer, and creative entrepreneur. His work brings together references from all over the world, intending the eye to take in the information for the mind to decide a personal meaning. He has studied art in the United States and Brazil and traveled extensively. The art of ancient Egypt, Rococo, tribal art of the United States and the Pacific, and pop and psychedelic art of the 60s era are major influences in his works.

His paintings and prints are typically silkscreen ink over acrylic paint preserving the gestural quality of the preparatory drawings as he does not use any sampled images in his art. He has also experimented with wordplay and numerical formulas in his work which give his pieces both an interesting and at times changing focus. A few of his pieces have previously been shown at BAMA Galleries, Hoboken Library, Life is Beautiful Gallery and Starbucks.
