Lloyd “Hazel” Hoeltzel

Art on display at D’s in June/July 2010

Lloyd Hazel (born Hoeltzel) is a Hoboken based artist, designer, and creative entrepreneur whose works bring together references from all over the world intending the eye to take in the information for the mind to decide a personal meaning. He has studied art in the United States and Brazil and traveled extensively. The art of ancient Egypt, Rococo, tribal art of the United States and the Pacific, and pop and psychedelic art of the 60s era are major influences in his works.

His paintings and prints are typically silkscreen ink over acrylic paint preserving the gestural quality of the preparatory drawings as he does not use any sampled images in his art. A few of his pieces have previously been shown at BAMA Galleries in Hoboken and Starbucks as part of its artist of the month program. His first solo gallery exhibition will be at BAMA Galleries from October 8 through October 31, 2010.
